Ingredients

2 tsp. peanut oil

6 pearl onions or 1/2 cup chopped onion

3/4 tsp. ground ginger

1 clove garlic, crushed

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. mace

1/4 tsp. ground cardamom

1/2 tsp. turmeric

1/4 cup ketchup

1/4 tsp. ground cloves

1 tsp. rice flour

2 cups buttermilk

2 cups frozen peas

crushed red chile pepper to taste

1 cup cashew nuts, fried

Preparation

Heat oil in skillet. Add onions, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, mace, cardamom, turmeric, ketchup, cloves and rice flour, stirring as each ingredient is added. Do not allow onions to brown. Add buttermilk, peas, red pepper and nuts. Simmer until peas are tender. Serve with rice.
