Ingredients
2 lbs. ground beef (or 1 lb beef and 1 lb mild sausage)
2 medium onions, chopped
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
1 - 14oz jar spaghetti sauce
1 - 16oz can stewed or
recipe ready tomatoes
1 - 3 oz can sliced
mushrooms
8 oz. shell macaroni
(3 1/2 cups)
1 pint sour cream
1/2 lb. sliced provolone
1/2 lb. sliced mozzarella
Preparation
Cook beef in large frying pan until brown, stirring often. Drain off excess fat. Add onion, garlic, sauce, tomatoes and undrained mushrooms. Mix well. Simmer 20 minutes or until onions are soft. Cook macaroni shells according to instructions. Drain and rinse with cold water. Pour half of the shells into a deep casserole, cover with half of the tomato sauce. Spread half of the sour cream over sauce. Top with the provolne cheese. Repeat layers ending with mozzarella cheese.
Cover casserole and bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes then remove cover until cheese melts and browns.
