Ingredients

5 large eggs

1 1/2 cups milk

1/8 cup brown sugar

1/8 cup white sugar

1/2 tsp. vanilla

1/2 tsp. cinammon

8 slices of plain white bread

or challah bread

1/4 cup butter

1/8 cup maple syrup

*optional: extra maple syrup

Preparation

Grease and flour a 9x13 baking pan. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugars, vanilla and cinnamon. Lay slices of bread in a single layer in pan. Dot with pats of butter and pour 1/2 of maple syrup over. Repeat to make a second layer. Pour egg mixture over entire dish, dot with remaining butter, cover, and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown and somewhat firm. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
