Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening or lard
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
2 1/4 cups Quaker oats
1 tsp baking soda
1 pinch salt
1 package milk chocolate chips
Preparation
In a large bowl, cream together butter and shortening. Add both sugars and mix well. Add the egg and a pinch of salt, and blend well. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, oats and baking soda. Add flour mixture to first mixture in about 3 stages and blend well. Mix in desired amount of chocolate chips and drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350F for 8-10 minutes.
