cups finely chopped peeled Granny Smith apples (about 2 medium)

cup packed brown sugar

teaspoons cornstarch

tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1/2

teaspoon ground cinnamon

tablespoon butter or margarine

Cinnamon-sugar pita chips, if desired

Preparation

In 3-quart saucepan, mix apples, brown sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice and cinnamon. Heat to boiling over medium-high heat; boil 1 minute or until thickened, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat; stir in butter until melted. Serve warm or cool with pita chips.
