Ingredients
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 stick butter (1/4 lb)
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups rolled oats
1 teaspoon vailla
1 cup coconut (optional)
Preparation
Mix milk, sugar, butter, cocoa and salt in a saucepan, bring to a simmer. Cook until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute.
Remove from heat and add the rest of the ingredients (oats, vanilla, coconut). Mix together, then drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let the cookies set until they are hard enough to pick up and eat!
You can add raisins, nuts, or peanut butter. Or more oatmeal or cocoa. Whatever you’d like. I seem to remember that Granny made a batch where she added cheerios!
