Ingredients

2 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp bakingsoda

1 tsp salt

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp shortening

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 cup quick rolled oats

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips or chunks

1 cup chopped nuts

Preparation

In a medium sized bowl, mix together flour, baking soda and salt, set aside. In a large mixing bowl,using a mixer, cream butter and shortening together until fluffy. Add sugars, and mix thoroughly. Add vanilla and eggs and mix. Add rolled oats (oat meal), flour mixture, chocolate chips and nuts and mix. Drop by generous rounded tablespoon- fuls on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven for 9-11 minutes (8-9 minutes convection mode). Remove to wire rack to cool
