Ingredients

1 pkg yeast (2 1/4 tsp)

1 1/2 cup warm water

2 tbsp sugar

1 1/2 tsp salt

1 egg beaten

3 tbs lard (melted)

5 cups flour (or less) to make the dough

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients except the flour. Add flour gradually to wet mixture, kneading as you go. Should be the consistency of a dough that you can easily roll out.

Flour board and rolling pin. Roll into small circles about 4 inches across.

Fill and seal immediately, pinching and turning the edges.

Have hot fat ready (canola, peanut, or safflower) to fry.

It’s good to have two sets of hands.
