Ingredients

6-8 medium green crisp apples

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup quick cooking instant oats

1/2 lemon

3/4 cup of brown sugar

1 pinch salt

6 tablespoons butter

Preparation

Butter a baking dish and set aside.

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Peel, core and segment apples; then dice into rough chunks approx 1/2 inch each Take apple pieces and squeeze juice of 1/2 lemon over and toss to prevent browning. And 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinammon and pinch of salt to apples and toss. Place apples in baking dish.

Using a food processor with a mixing blade, coarsely blend together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinammon and butter.

Place the crumbled topping loosely over the apples in the baking dish.

Cover dish loosely with foil and place in oven. Cook for approx 30 minutes covered, then remove foil and continue to cook uncovered for another 20 minutes (until the apples are bubbling in their juices and the crust is crisping up).

If you prefer an even crisper crust, place under the broiler for no more than 2 minutes.

Let the apple crisp sit for 10 minutes minimum prior to serving.

May be served with a scoop of good quality vanilla ice cream.
