Ingredients

1 cup brown sugar

1/4 pound butter (1 cube) - (softened for 1 hour)

1-cup whole wheat flour

5 pounds apples (granny smith or pippin)

Cinnamon

Preparation

  1. To make the crumble topping, mix together butter, flour and brown sugar. You can use a fork - or your fingers.
  2. Wash, peel and slice apples (not too thick). Can slice in Cuisinart.
  3. Spread apples in an 8x11 rectangular Pyrex. Make sure they are piled pretty high because they shrink. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  4. Crumble the topping over the apples.
  5. Bake at 325 for 1 hour or until apples are nice and soft. If not cooking fast enough raise to 350.
  6. Serve warm or at room temperature. If it’s too hot, you can’t taste the apples.
