Ingredients

1 cup shortening

1 cup brown sugar (we prefer dark)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 tsp pure vanilla extract

2 eggs

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups M&Ms

Preparation

Blend shortening and sugars. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Sift remaining dry ingredients together then add to the sugar and egg mixture, mix well by hand with a wooden spoon. Stir in 1/2 cup M&Ms, reserve remaining candies for decorating. Drop from teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate tops of cookies with remaining M&Ms. Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown. Cool on wire racks.
